Quinsy Gario
Quinsy Gario (born 1984) is a Curaçaoan activist and artist known for his opposition to the Dutch tradition of Zwarte Piet. Born in Curaçao and raised in St Maarten before moving to the Netherlands, Gario gained prominence through his project Zwarte Piet is Racisme (Black Pete is Racism). In 2011, he was arrested for public disturbance while protesting against Zwarte Piet at the annual Sinterklaas festival.
