Rachel A. Black is an American politician who served as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the 51st district from 2019 to 2023. Born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Black graduated from Alamogordo High School and later attended New Mexico State University Alamogordo. She began her career in the banking sector, working for the First National Bank, before becoming involved in politics. Black's interest in politics grew during her time working for the Otero County treasurer, leading her to run for the New Mexico House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party, Black was elected to office in the 2018 election, succeeding incumbent Yvette Herrell. Despite baseless claims of voting irregularities and stating that Joe Biden lost the 2020 presidential election, Black's political career has been marked by her platform of fiscal responsibility.
