    Rafael Torres (born April 17, 1966) is a Dominican former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 1999. Known for his southpaw stance, Torres achieved notable success in the minimumweight division. He turned professional in 1986 and quickly gained attention, amassing a record of 9-0. In 1989, he made history by becoming the inaugural WBO minimumweight champion. Throughout his career, Torres faced tough opponents, including a bout against WBA champion Chana Porpaoin in 1993. Although he lost that fight via a fourth-round stoppage, he continued to challenge himself and moved up in weight to compete for the WBU title. Torres left a lasting impact on the sport and remains a respected figure in boxing history.
