Rafael Torres (born April 17, 1966) is a Dominican former professional boxer known for his career from 1986 to 1999. He gained recognition by winning the inaugural WBO minimumweight title in 1989. Torres had a successful start to his professional career, accumulating a record of 9-0. In 1993, he challenged Chana Porpaoin for the WBA title but lost via a fourth-round stoppage. Later, Torres moved up in weight and made an unsuccessful attempt to win the lightly regarded WBU title from Masibulele Makepula of South Africa. He is listed among the notable southpaw stance boxers and the world mini-flyweight boxing champions.
