Rahmatullah Rahmat

Rahmatullah Rahmat (رحمت الله رحمت; born 1950) is an Afghan politician and former Governor of Paktia province. He served in this position from 2006 to 2007, following the assassination of Hakim Taniwal. Rahmat is an ethnic Pashtun from the Mohmand tribe, born in Rodat District, Nangarhar Province. He completed his secondary education at Ihdad High School in Rodat. Rahmat has a diverse educational background, having received degrees from Kabul Teacher Training Academy (1969), Tashkent University in Uzbekistan (1987), and a political science certificate from Moscow Social Science Institute (1989). He has also worked as an official for the UNAMA mission in eastern Afghanistan. Rahmat is married and has 13 children.
