Ramsey Clark
William Ramsey Clark (December 18, 1927 – April 9, 2021) was an American lawyer, activist, and federal government official. He served as United States Attorney General from 1967 to 1969, during the administrations of presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Clark was a progressive and championed civil liberties, civil rights, and the enforcement of antitrust laws. Notably, he supervised the drafting of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Following his time in public office, Clark dedicated himself to progressive activism campaigns, including opposition to the War on Terror. He also provided legal advice or defense to prominent figures such as Charles Taylor, Slobodan Milošević, and Saddam Hussein.
