Ranulph Fiennes

Sir Ranulph Fiennes, born on 7 March 1944 in Windsor, Berkshire, is a British explorer, writer, and poet. He served in the British Army for eight years and conducted counter-insurgency service while attached to the Army of the Sultanate of Oman. Fiennes holds several endurance records and is considered one of the world's greatest living explorers. He was the first person to visit both the North Pole and South Pole by surface means and the first to completely cross Antarctica on foot. In 2009, at the age of 65, he climbed Mount Everest. Fiennes has written numerous books about his army service, expeditions, and explorers Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton.
