    Ray Mercer, born Raymond Anthony Mercer on April 4, 1961, is an American former professional boxer, kickboxer, and mixed martial artist. He had a successful boxing career, winning a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics and holding the WBO heavyweight title in 1991. Mercer's notable victories include a unanimous decision win over two-time heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon in 1996. Throughout his boxing career, he displayed incredible resilience and an iron jaw, never losing a fight by stoppage. Mercer also ventured into kickboxing, facing renowned fighters such as Musashi in 2004. In his foray into mixed martial arts, he achieved a memorable first-round knockout victory over a former two-time UFC heavyweight.
