Rebecca Marshall Biography
Rebecca Marshall (fl. 1663 – 1677) was a notable English actress during the Restoration era. She was one of the pioneering women performers on the public stage in Britain and was the younger sister of Anne Marshall, also a prominent actress of the time. Rebecca started her acting career with the King's Company, managed by Thomas Killigrew, around 1663. Except for a brief period with the Duke's Company in 1677, she remained with the King's Company for her entire career. Rebecca acted alongside her sister in John Dryden's The Maiden Queen in 1664. When Anne temporarily retired in 1668, Rebecca inherited some of her roles. Her notable performances included Calpurnia in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and Spaconia.
