Rex Ashley Ryan (born December 13, 1962) is an American former football coach and analyst. He was the head coach of the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL), and held various coaching positions with seven other NFL and college teams. Ryan, along with his fraternal twin brother Rob Ryan, is the son of former head coach Buddy Ryan. After graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Ryan spent 22 years as an assistant coach at both the college and professional level. He joined the Baltimore Ravens in 1999 and served as their defensive coordinator from 2005. Ryan is known for his defensive expertise and aggressive coaching style.
