Richard Adams
Richard George Adams (9 May 1920 – 24 December 2016) was an English novelist and writer known for his books Watership Down, Maia, Shardik, and The Plague Dogs. Born in Wash Common, near Newbury, Berkshire, England, Adams attended Horris Hill School and Bradfield College before studying Modern History at Worcester College, Oxford. In 1940, he joined the British Army and served in various locations, including Palestine, Europe, and East Asia. After the war, Adams joined the British Civil Service before becoming a full-time author in 1974. Adams is best remembered for his captivating and imaginative storytelling in his novels, which have been widely acclaimed and adapted into movies and TV shows.
