Richard Benjamin Harrison Jr., also known as 'The Old Man' and 'The Appraiser', was an American businessman and reality television personality. Born on March 4, 1941, in Danville, Virginia, Harrison was of Irish descent. He co-owned the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, which was featured on the History Channel series Pawn Stars, alongside his son Rick Harrison. Together, they opened the store in 1989. Harrison attended Lexington High School in Lexington, North Carolina, but left during his junior year due to financial constraints. Although there were claims of being related to Presidents William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, Harrison did not give much credence to this idea. Richard Benjamin Harrison Jr. passed away on June 25, 2018.
