Richard Ray Whitman (born 1949) is a Yuchi-Muscogee multidisciplinary visual artist, poet, and actor. He is enrolled in the Muscogee Nation and lives in Oklahoma. Whitman began his art career as a painter and expanded to photography, installation, and video art. He is known for his black-and-white photography portraying contemporary Native realities, especially his 'Street Chiefs Series' from the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Whitman has also ventured into acting. While not extensively documented, he has made appearances in movies and TV shows. With his rich cultural background and artistic endeavors, Whitman continues to contribute to the Native American art community.
