Ricky Lee

Ricky Lee, born Ricardo Arreola Lee on March 19, 1948, is a Filipino screenwriter, journalist, novelist, and playwright. With a career spanning over four decades, Lee has written more than 180 film screenplays since 1973. His remarkable contributions to the Filipino film industry earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Order of National Artists of the Philippines for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022. Lee's exceptional work has been recognized by more than 70 award-giving bodies, and he has received three life achievement awards from the Cinemanila International Film Festival, the Gawad Urian, and the PMPC. In addition, he was honored with the 2015 UP Gawad Plaridel and was a recipient of the Gawad CCP and Gawad Dangal ni Balagtas awards, among others.
