Rob McClanahan
Rob McClanahan, born January 9, 1958, is a former American professional ice hockey player. He played 224 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres, Hartford Whalers, and New York Rangers between 1980 and 1983. McClanahan gained recognition as a member of the U.S. men's Olympic hockey team that won the gold medal at Lake Placid in 1980, famously defeating the Soviet Union. Prior to his professional career, he attended Mounds View High School and played three seasons for the University of Minnesota, winning the 1979 NCAA national championship. McClanahan scored five goals in seven games during the 1980 Olympics, including the winning goal in the gold medal game against Finland.
