    Robert Arrington Biography
    Robert L. Arrington (October 19, 1938 - June 20, 2015) was an American philosopher known for his expertise in moral philosophy, the philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein, and the philosophy of psychology. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, and earned his bachelor's degree cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1960. Arrington furthered his education at Tulane University, earning his master's degree in 1962 and Ph.D. in 1966. He served as an assistant professor at The University of Southern Mississippi from 1963 to 1966 before joining Georgia State University. At Georgia State, Arrington held the position of professor emeritus of philosophy and director of Wittgenstein Studies. Throughout his career, he received several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the Griffin Award from the Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology in 1968 and the American Council of Learned Societies Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford in 1974-1975. Arrington authored Rationalism, Realism, and Relativism: Perspectives in Contemporary Moral Epistemology.
