Robert Asencio
Robert Asencio (born August 1963) is an American Democratic politician and former Miami-Dade Schools Police Department captain from Florida. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2018, representing part of Miami-Dade in District 118. Asencio won the Democratic primary for Florida's 28th congressional district in August 2022 but was defeated in the November general election by incumbent Republican Carlos A. Giménez. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1963, Asencio graduated from St. Thomas University with a BA in 2009. He also served in the United States Army Reserve and later became a police captain. Asencio is known for his work on the Education Committee and the Health Quality, Justice Appropriations, and Pos committees.
