Robert Hansen

Robert Hansen (February 15, 1939 – August 21, 2014) was an American serial killer known as the Butcher Baker. Between 1971 and 1983, he abducted, raped, and murdered at least seventeen women in and around Anchorage, Alaska. Hansen used a Ruger Mini-14 and a knife to hunt down many of his victims in the wilderness. In 1983, he was arrested and convicted, receiving a 461-year sentence without the possibility of parole. Hansen died in 2014 at the age of 75 due to natural causes resulting from lingering health conditions. Born in Estherville, Iowa, Hansen was the son of an American mother and a Danish father. He worked at his father's bakery in Iowa before the family eventually settled in Alaska.
