Robert Lin Biography
Robert Peichung Lin (January 24, 1942 – November 17, 2012) was a Chinese-born American astrophysicist known for his contributions to gamma-ray astronomy and particle detection in space. He served as a professor and director of the Space Sciences Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley from 1998 to 2008. Lin's research focused on solar physics, the physics of the solar wind, and the magnetosphere. He played a key role in the development of our understanding of these fields. Lin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1962, and later obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967.
