Robert Salvador
Robert Salvador is a retired Philippine Army officer who is best known for his heroic actions during the 1989 Philippine coup attempt. At the time, Salvador was a Private First Class and was defending Camp Aguinaldo. When rebel forces attacked the camp's gate with armored personnel carriers, Salvador bravely fired upon the vehicles using a 90 mm recoilless rifle, killing several crewmen inside. Tragically, one of those killed was Salvador's brother, Rogelio. In recognition of his courageous actions, Salvador was promoted to Sergeant and received the Medal of Valor, the highest military award in the Philippines, on March 22, 1991. He retired as a Captain in December 2016.
