Robert Vito is an American television correspondent and bureau chief, best known for his role as bureau chief for CNN, covering Los Angeles, Miami, Rome, and Detroit. He began his career in 1968 as a general assignment reporter for WAEO-TV in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. After a tragic airplane crash in 1968, Vito joined WISN-TV in Milwaukee as an investigative reporter under the name 'Bob Viverito.' In 1973, he moved to WWJ-TV to focus on investigative reporting and anchoring. Vito conducted the last interview with former Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa in 1975 before Hoffa's disappearance. In 1982, he joined CNN as the Detroit bureau chief and later expanded his responsibilities to include Rome, Los Angeles, and Miami. Vito retired from CNN in 1999 and transitioned into a career as a jury consultant.
