Rod Blagojevich, born on December 10, 1956, is a Serbian-American politician, political commentator, and convicted felon. He served as the 40th governor of Illinois from 2003 to 2009. Blagojevich, commonly known by his nickname 'Blago', was impeached, removed from office, convicted, and incarcerated for eight years due to federal charges of public corruption. Prior to his governorship, he worked in both state and federal legislatures, serving as an Illinois state representative from 1993 to 1997 and as the U.S. representative from Illinois's 5th district from 1997 to 2003. Blagojevich, a member of the Democratic Party, was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Northwestern University and Pepperdine University School of Law.
