Ronald Russell Biography
Sir Ronald Stanley Russell FRSA (29 May 1904 – 6 April 1974) was a British journalist, author, and Conservative politician. Born on 29 May 1904 in Seahouses, Northumberland, Russell was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He began his journalism career in 1929 at the Newcastle Chronicle before joining Reuters in 1931. During World War II, he served as an officer in the Royal Artillery and as a staff officer. Russell made unsuccessful attempts to be elected to parliament in 1935 and 1945 but was eventually elected as the Member of Parliament for Wembley South in 1950. He held the seat until his death in 1974.
