Roy Hattersley
Roy Hattersley, born on 28 December 1932 in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, is a British politician, author, and journalist. He was a member of the Labour Party and served as the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Sparkbrook for over 32 years from 1964 to 1997. Hattersley also held the position of Deputy Leader of the Labour Party from 1983 to 1992. His mother, Enid Brackenbury, was a city councillor and later became Lord Mayor of Sheffield in 1981. His father, Frederick Roy Hattersley, was a former Roman Catholic priest who left the priesthood to cohabit with Roy's mother. Hattersley's extensive political career and contributions to the Labour Party have made him a well-known figure in British politics.
