Ryan O'Neal, born Charles Patrick Ryan O'Neal on April 20, 1941, is an American actor and former boxer. He began his acting career in 1960 after training as an amateur boxer. In 1964, O'Neal gained recognition for his role as Rodney Harrington in the ABC soap opera Peyton Place. This success led to his notable film roles, including Love Story (1970), What's Up, Doc? (1972), and Paper Moon (1973). He received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor and Golden Globe Award for his performance in Love Story. O'Neal also appeared in Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975), Richard Attenborough's A Bridge Too Far (1977), and Walter Hill's The Driver (1978). Additionally, from 2005 to 2017, he had a recurring role as Max in the television series Bones.
