Salaam Remi Gibbs (born May 14, 1972) is an American record producer and musician. He gained recognition for his reggae-tinged production style, often referred to as 'broken-bottle.' Salaam is renowned for his work with notable artists such as Nas, Amy Winehouse, and Jazmine Sullivan. He has also produced for mainstream acts including Alicia Keys, Fugees, Doja Cat, Miguel, Fergie, Alessia Cara, Nelly Furtado, and Estelle, among others. With 10 Grammy Award nominations, Salaam received his first in 2022 for his contributions to The United States vs. Billie Holiday soundtrack (2021). Born in Queens, New York, Salaam Remi is the son of Trinidadian and Barbadian father, Van Joseph Gibbs, a studio musician. He made his first appearance on record as the keyboard player on Kurtis Blow's Kingdom Blow (1986) and began full production in 1992, working with hip-hop groups Zhigge, Fugees, and Black Sheep.
