Sally Gunnell
Sally Gunnell is a British former track and field athlete who was active between 1984 and 1997. Born on July 29, 1966, she achieved great success in the 400 meters hurdles event. In 1992, she won the Olympic gold medal in this discipline and went on to dominate the international stage for the next two years. During this period, Gunnell won every major international event available to her, including the Olympic Games, World Championship, European Championship, and Commonwealth Games. Notably, she is the only British female athlete to have won all four of these prestigious titles. In 1993, Gunnell set a world record time of 52.74 seconds in the 400 meters hurdles, which still ranks among the top ten all-time performances worldwide. She was honored as the World and European Female Athlete of the Year in 1993 and received the MBE in 1993 and OBE in 1998.
