Sally Murphy

Sally Murphy (born 1968) is an Australian children’s author and poet who has published thirty books, including verse novels, picture books, and educational titles. Born in Perth, Murphy grew up in the southwest town of Collie. She discovered her love for writing at a young age, participating in local writing competitions during her childhood. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Australia and a Teaching Diploma from Edith Cowan University. She has worked as a high school English teacher and has experience in various primary school subjects and other roles such as running a tourist information center and working in local government. Some of her notable works include verse novels like Pearl Verses the World (2009) and Toppling (2010), as well as picture books.
