Samuel Jordan
Samuel Jordan (died 1623) was an early settler and Ancient Planter of colonial Jamestown. He arrived in Virginia around 1610 and served as a Burgess in the first representative legislative session in North America. Jordan's plantation, known as 'Beggar's Bush' or Jordan's Journey, became a safe haven during the Second Anglo-Powhatan War. Little is known about Jordan's early life, though some suggest he was married multiple times and had three sons from a first wife. Samuel Jordan played a significant role in the early colonization of Virginia and the establishment of Jamestown as a permanent settlement.
