Samuel Torres (born September 4, 1976) is a Colombian percussionist, composer, and arranger. Born in Bogotá, Torres began playing at the age of twelve and quickly became involved with various bands in his hometown. He received classical training but developed a passion for Latin American and jazz styles. Torres graduated from the University of Javeriana with a degree in Music Composition. In 1999, he joined Grammy Award winner Arturo Sandoval and toured with him for four years. Torres also received recognition for his hand percussion skills, earning second place at the 2000 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Tito Puente, Chick Corea, and Paquito D’Rivera.
