    Sarah Hayward is a British politician and former leader of the London Borough of Camden. Born and raised in Oxfordshire, Hayward was attracted to socialism at a young age due to her experiences growing up in a low-income family. She earned a degree in law and politics from the University of Hull before moving to London. Hayward worked at Sainsbury's and a publishing company before joining the Ministry of Defence. However, she resigned in protest over the Invasion of Iraq. Hayward's love for the grungy pubs and music scene in Camden drew her to the area, where she has represented the King's Cross ward since 2010. Prior to her political career, she worked for the London Labour Party and the Fawcett Society.
