Scott Long Biography
Scott Long (born June 5, 1963, in Radford, Virginia) is a US-born activist for international human rights, primarily focusing on the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. He founded the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Program at Human Rights Watch and served as its executive director from May 2004 - August 2010. Long later became a visiting fellow in the Human Rights Program of Harvard Law School from 2011 to 2012. Known as one of the foremost experts on international LGBT issues, Long's work has been widely recognized and praised within the LGBT community. He also maintains a highly regarded blog, A Paper Bird, that explores global politics and sexuality.
