    Sean McDermott (born March 21, 1974) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach and defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL). McDermott began his NFL coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001, serving as a defensive coordinator from 2009 to 2010. He later became the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2016, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2016. In 2017, McDermott was hired as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills and has since led the team to improved success, including their first playoff appearance in 18 years in 2017. He continues to be a key figure in the Bills' ongoing success in the NFL.
