Selma Stern
Selma Stern-Täubler (1890-1981) was a pioneering German historian and author. Born on July 24, 1890, in Kippenheim, Germany, Stern became one of the first women to pursue a career in history in Germany. She is best known for her monumental seven-volume work titled 'The Prussian State and the Jews,' which spans 3,740 pages. Growing up in an upper-middle-class Jewish family, Stern attended the Großherzogliches Badisches Gymnasium, where she was the first girl to enroll. She studied history, philosophy, and philology at the University of Heidelberg and later graduated from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Stern's expertise lies in German-Jewish history, and she began her career as a freelance historian in Frankfurt in 1914.
