Shabnam, born Jharna Basak on August 17, 1946, is a Bangladeshi-Pakistani stage and film actress. She gained fame in the Pakistani film industry through her debut film Samundar in 1968, introduced by actor Waheed Murad. Shabnam was an active actress in Lollywood during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, appearing in over 150 films. Her exceptional talent earned her 13 Nigar Awards, the most for any actress. Born in Dhaka, British India, Shabnam migrated from East to West Pakistan in 1968, and later returned to her native Bangladesh in the late 1990s. With a career spanning 28 years, Shabnam is considered a leading actress in the Pakistani film industry.
