Shailyn Pierre-Dixon is a Canadian actress born on June 1, 2003, in Caledon, Ontario. She is best known for her role as the young Aminata in the television miniseries The Book of Negroes. In 2016, she won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance. Pierre-Dixon has also appeared in films such as The Best Man Holiday, Suicide Squad, and Jean of the Joneses. She currently portrays the character Frances in the television series Between. Starting her career as a child model, Pierre-Dixon credits her interest in acting to her mother, Canadian actress Christina Dixon. She is currently enrolled in the drama program at Mayfield Secondary School.
