Shakura S'Aida Biography
Shakura S'Aida is a Canadian blues vocalist, songwriter, and actress. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Switzerland before settling in Canada, she has made a name for herself in the music industry. S'Aida was the lead singer of the world music ensemble Kaleefah before pursuing a successful solo career. She has worked as a backing vocalist for renowned artists Rita MacNeil and Patti LaBelle, as well as collaborating with jazz musicians like Jimmy Smith and Ruth Brown. S'Aida has been recognized with multiple Juno Award nominations for her music. In addition to her music career, she has also showcased her talent as an actress in various productions, including 'Consecrated Ground,' 'Doomstown,' and 'Brown Girl Begins.'
