Shannon Barnett

Shannon Barnett (born 1982) is an Australian trombonist and composer. She gained recognition in 2007 when she was named Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year at the Australian Jazz Bell Awards. Born in Traralgon, Barnett completed her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts. She has performed with various ensembles including Vada, The Bamboos, The Black Arm Band, The Vampires, and the Bennetts Lane Big Band. Barnett has also appeared as a guest with the Andrea Keller Quartet and the Australian Art Orchestra. In addition, she worked with the contemporary circus group Circus Oz from 2009 to 2010. In 2011, Barnett moved to New York City to pursue a Master of Music degree and later became a member of the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany.
