Shelley Winters Biography
Shelley Winters (1920-2006) was an American actress known for her extensive career in film and television. Born Shirley Schrift in St. Louis, Missouri, Winters appeared in numerous films over the course of seven decades. She achieved critical acclaim and won Academy Awards for her performances in 'The Diary of Anne Frank' (1959) and 'A Patch of Blue' (1965). Winters also received nominations for her roles in 'A Place in the Sun' (1951) and 'The Poseidon Adventure' (1972). In addition to her film work, she appeared in various TV shows, including a notable role on the sitcom 'Roseanne'. Winters also wrote three autobiographical books.
