Sherrilyn Ifill is an American lawyer, law professor, and civil rights advocate. Born on December 17, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ifill is the Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., Esq. Endowed Chair in Civil Rights at Howard University. She is widely recognized for her expertise in voting rights and judicial selection. Ifill served as the seventh president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a position she held from 2013 to 2021. She has a B.A. from Vassar College and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Time magazine named Ifill one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2021.
