Sidney Shapiro
Sidney Shapiro (December 23, 1915 – October 18, 2014) was an American-born Chinese actor, lawyer, translator, and writer. He lived in China from 1947 until his death in 2014, residing in Beijing for over 50 years. Shapiro was a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and held citizenship of the People's Republic of China from 1963 until his passing. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Shapiro was of Ashkenazi Jewish descent and graduated from St. John's University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Great Depression and later pursued a career in law. Shapiro's contributions spanned various fields, making him a notable figure in both China and the United States.
