Stephanie Gibson

Stephanie Gibson is a notable New Zealand writer and museum curator. She has made significant contributions to the field of museum curation and New Zealand history and culture. Gibson played a key role in the redevelopment of the Museum of Wellington City and Sea, showcasing her expertise in curating exhibitions. Additionally, she served as the first collection manager at the Adam Art Gallery at Victoria University. Gibson's extensive knowledge and passion for New Zealand's history and culture can be seen in her written works, including her co-winning book 'Protest = Tautohetohe: objects of resistance persistence and defiance,' which received the Best Illustrated Non-Fiction award at the 2020 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. Gibson has also co-authored other notable publications such as 'Tiny Statements: A social history of Aotearoa New Zealand in badges' and 'Looking flash: clothing in Aotearoa New Zealand.' Currently, she holds the position of curator of New Zealand history and culture at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
