Stephanie Simmons is a Canadian scientist and entrepreneur known for her work in quantum computing and silicon photonics. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Advisory Council on Canada's National Quantum Strategy and holds the position of Canadian Research Chair in Quantum Computing at Simon Fraser University. Simmons is also the founder and Chief Quantum Officer at Photonic Inc., a company focused on the commercial development of silicon photonics spin qubits. She was recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 by Caldwell Partners in 2020. Simmons completed her undergraduate studies in mathematics and mathematical physics at the University of Waterloo before pursuing her Ph.D. in materials science at the University of Oxford as a Clarendon Scholar at Magdalen College. Her research primarily revolves around the development of silicon-based systems for quantum computing.
