Steve Coll (born October 8, 1958) is an American journalist, academic, and executive. Currently serving as the dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, he is also the Henry R. Luce Professor of Journalism. Coll is a staff writer for The New Yorker and previously served as the president and CEO of the New America think tank from 2007 to 2012. He has been honored with two Pulitzer Prize awards, two Overseas Press Club Awards, and various other accolades, including the PEN American Center John Kenneth Galbraith Award and the Arthur Ross Book Award. Additionally, Coll has served on the Pulitzer Prize Board. He was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland.
