Steve Tannen Biography
Steve Tannen (born 1968) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. He is best known for his work as one half of the folk-pop duo The Weepies. Born in New York City, Tannen grew up in Australia, Canada, and New York. He began performing at an early age and gained musical knowledge from his family. Tannen is the grandson of magician Louis Tannen and the brother of songwriter Greg Tannen and screenwriter Robert Tannen. After graduating from Mamaroneck High School, he obtained a degree in English from Stanford University. Tannen worked in Hollywood as a production assistant and script reader, eventually becoming an assistant to film director Norman Jewison. He also interned at radio station KCRW before moving to Colorado to work for the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Tannen later returned to New York and formed The Weepies with his wife Deb Talan. He has appeared in various TV shows and movies throughout his career.
