Steven Ronald Bochco (December 16, 1943 – April 1, 2018) was an American television writer and producer. He developed several successful television series, including Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, Doogie Howser, M.D., Cop Rock, and NYPD Blue. Bochco was born in New York City to a Jewish family. He studied playwriting and theater at Carnegie Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theater. Bochco began his career at Universal Pictures, working as a writer and story editor on popular shows such as Ironside, Columbo, and McMillan & Wife. He made significant contributions to the television industry and left a lasting impact on the medium.
