Steven D. Pierce (born October 10, 1949) is a retired Massachusetts jurist and politician. He served as chief justice of the Massachusetts Housing Court and retired from the Housing Court in September 2015. Pierce graduated from Union College and the Duke University School of Law. He started his career as an attorney and later entered politics. Pierce was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1978 and served as the House Minority Whip from 1983 to 1987, and the House Minority Leader from 1987 to 1991. In 1990, he sought the Republican nomination for Governor but lost to William Weld. Pierce also ran for the Massachusetts's 1st congressional seat in 1991.
