Suki Kim Biography
Suki Kim, a Korean American journalist and writer, is known for her award-winning novel, The Interpreter, and her investigative journalism book, Without You, There Is No Us: Undercover Among the Sons of North Korea's Elite. Kim is the only writer to have lived undercover in North Korea for immersive journalism. Currently a contributing editor at The New Republic, Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to the US at thirteen, becoming a naturalized American citizen. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Barnard College and has studied East Asian Literature at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Kim has received prestigious grants and fellowships, including a Fulbright Research Grant, Guggenheim Fellowship, and Open Society Foundations Fellowship. She was also a visiting lecturer at Princeton University as a Ferris Journalism Fellow.
