Susan Basemera is a Ugandan singer and actress. Originally from Uganda, Basemera began singing in school choirs at the age of eight. Known as Zani Lady C in her home country, she gained recognition in 1995 when she joined the band Waka Waka and released the song 'Yimilila awo'. Her hit track 'Ndoowa', released in 1997, continues to be popular. In 2012, Basemera moved to the United States to further her career and has since focused on acting. She appeared in the short film 'Gubagudeko' with Mahershala Ali in 2016 and starred as the title character in 'Can You Keep a Secret'. Basemera gained attention for her role as Yuliana in the Apple TV+ series 'Little America', which tells stories of immigrants. She showcases her heritage by wearing a gomesi in one of the scenes.
