Sylvia Syms Biography
Sylvia May Laura Syms (6 January 1934 – 27 January 2023) was an English stage and screen actress. She gained recognition for her roles in notable films such as My Teenage Daughter (1956), Woman in a Dressing Gown (1957), Ice Cold in Alex (1958), and Victim (1961). Syms was also known for her recurring role as Olive Woodhouse in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. With a career spanning from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, Syms was often cast in traditional English films. She also portrayed Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in the 2006 biopic The Queen. Born in Woolwich, London, Syms was the daughter of Daisy and Edwin Syms.
